TRANSPORT SERVICES

Lindsay Australia’s transport division operates under the brand name, Lindsay Transport. Established in 1953 as Lindsay Brothers Transport, the Transport division has progressively expanded to become one of Australia’s leading refrigerated transport companies.
The business transports around 1 million tonnes of freight over 45 million kilometres p.a. and operates from 16 freight terminals located along Australia’s eastern seaboard.
An end to end services package provided to over 5,000 customers along the east coast of Australia integrates linehaul; dry and general freight; refrigerated freight; express parcel service; local pick-up and delivery; and warehousing, cold storage and distribution.
The business’ modern transport fleet, which comprises around 700 vehicles and trailers (including 180 prime movers) is utilised by major customers including:

• Simplot Australia
• Cadbury Schweppes
• IGA Supermarkets
• Woolworths
• Coles

An underlying strength of Lindsay Transport is its fleet’s flexibility; achieved through maintaining a balanced mix between refrigerated, chiller and freezer vans and other trailers. This provides higher utilisation rates than fleets which concentrate solely on dry and general freight.
Lindsay Transport is Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) compliant to meet the increasingly demanding levels of compliance by supermarkets and other retailers for stringent food safety levels.
A feature of Lindsay Transport's service delivery platform and a cornerstone of its continuing competitiveness is its use of purpose-built equipment to handle all facets of the food transportation chain. It’s embrace of new technology and willingness to innovate ensure Lindsay Transport remains at the forefront of industry advances in refrigerated transport equipment. Among the numerous innovations introduced by Lindsay Transport over the years are:

• New generation computer controlled engines and high humidity trailer refrigeration;
• Maximum trailer cubic;
• Multi-temperature distribution vehicles;
• 45 foot and 48 foot refrigerated vans; and
• B double vans

In addition to its transport operations, Lindsay Transport operates a selected number of supplementary business enterprises which contribute to group earnings:
